Camp Bonaventure Fishing & River Report June 29th to July 5th, 2015

Another a great week to be at camp, perfect water conditions combined with big tides and plenty of fish is the recipe for happy anglers! Water condition on all our rivers couldn’t be better, temperatures are still cool, levels are a little higher than normal for this time of the season and there are plenty of fish to go around The weather man continues to be good to us with a couple of rainy days each week and a couple of cloudy ones thrown for good measure. Not the best weather for tourists but hey, they got the hot and sunny  last year.  Everybody at camp landed salmon, needless to say we had a group of very happy fishermen.

The rain last week maintained our rivers and kept them perfect condition. The Bonaventure is at a great level flowing at 30 Cubic Meter per second, perfect for dry fly fishing. The water temperatures are in the low 50’s.  The Petite Cascapedia is fishing well and we haven't missed in over a week. Fresh fish are running and most of the pools are holding fresh salmon, the petite is also running cool in the low 50’s as well. The Grand Cascapedia is fishing very well however we could use a little rain to keep the present levels. So far it's been a great season at both our lodges. We are looking forward to another great week on the river.

The ammunition of choice this week were bombers, especially the Green and Dark Brown patterns. Wets also did very well , the top wet fly's for the week were the Nagli and Silver Rat. We just received a number of Davie McPhail’s “Piglet “ patterns, the first few days on the river proved they are something to contend with.
